Brief Bio
David Streifford, President of
Grants Gateway, is a former teacher, grants administrator and director
of
international trade programs. He has obtained grants from the U.S.
Department
of Education, the State Department, Department of Labor and the
Commerce Department
that funded training and education projects valued at more than $7
million.
David began work in
international business in 1985 while teaching in St. Louis. He
spearheaded the
development of the first International Business degree and certificate
programs
in the Midwest. He won a grant from the USDOE in 1986 to develop a
series of
eight 20-minute video programs to serve as a stand-alone introduction
to
exporting. These are still being used today in college classes,
training
workshops, and by various training-for-trade organizations. Additional
grants
obtained throughout the 1990s funded export assistance initiatives to
more than
500 small and mid-size companies -- training that included topics
ranging from exporting
and importing basics to duty drawbacks, EX-IM Bank financing, marketing
and
sales support, methods of payment, and international trade shows.
He has served in various
consulting and advisory capacities for colleges and universities,
businesses,
government agencies and several NGOs. Also, he was an active member of
several
trade organizations, including the World Trade Club of St. Louis, the
District
Export Council of St. Louis, and the World Trade Center of St. Louis.
David
also served as a reader for the federal Business and International
Education
[Title VI-B] program.
David has
been an active
member of the North American Small Business International Trade
Association
[NASBITE] since 1988. He is a Past President and Treasurer, and served
on the
Board of Governors for 12 years. NASBITE is a trailblazer in several
areas:
certification body for a Global Trade Professional certificate; annual
conferences that bring together trade professionals from around the
world; and
a friendly and dependable source of and valuable information to
educators.
Here's Dave on vacation in Bergen, Norway. Did you expect a suit and
tie? Dave will sport these when appropriate, but this beautiful
75-degree sunny day in what is normally a rain-drenched peninsula
certainly called for something more causual.

I look
forward to working with you.
Cheers,
Dave Streifford
